John Quincy Adams: #6 - "My Spanish name is Juan"

Lived 1767-1848.  Scientists did an experiment, and the results were that Quincy Adams was the most fit president, thanks to his habit of walking three miles a day and swimming in the Potomac River.  He was elected president  despite losing both the electoral and popular votes.  The House of Representitives had to vote on the president because nobody won the majority of electoral votes.

Andrew Jackson #7 - "I killed a guy" -- Brick Tamblin, Anchorman

Lived 1767-1845. Jackson helped win the battle of New Orleans by leading troops agents the British.  Jackson also killed a man in a duel.  The man shot him first, barely missing his heart, but Jackson got up and shot him.

Martin Van Buren #8 - The "Little Magician"

Lived 1782-1862.  Van Buren had two tiger cubs assets, but congressmen made him give them away to zoos.  He never went to college, and he worked at his father's bar after school.  He was called the "Little Magician" because he could get people to vote for him, even if they didn't want to.

William Henry Harrison #9 - " I died in office"

 Lived 1773-1841, William Henry Harrison never had a full term time as president.  He died of a sickness in office which is kind of sad.  He was governor of the Indian Territory and a brave fighter which made him a good president.

John Tyler #10 - " I have two first names"

Lived 1790-1862.  Tyler was the last of three presidents in a one year span while both Martin Van Buren and William Henry Harrison died before him.  Once Henry Harrison died, people didn't want Tyler to be president, so. they just thought it would be best if Tyler agreed with all the laws congress passed.  However, Tyler had other ideas.  Tyler vetoed the laws that congress made, and he wasn't best friends with congress. 

James K Polk #11 - " All I do is WORK WORK WORK"

Lived 1795-1849, This guy only worked. He never took a single vacation while he was in office.  It seems like many Presidents now are always on vacation and golfing. He started his education at age 18, do to sickness as a child.  Polk also was governor of Tennessee after serving in congress.  He looks very serious in all his photos.

Zachary Taylor #12 " Mr. Gold Rush"

Lived 1784-1850. Taylor  was a soldier in the army in his life before he was president. While in office, people were rushing to California because people had discovered a lot of gold there. Taylor didn't live that long after he retired from president.

Millard Fillmore #13 "Teacher's Pet"

Lived 1800-1874. Fillmore became president right after Zachary Taylor suddenly died. Fillmore was in a very poor family and didn't go to school until he was 19. He and his teacher were only a few years apart, fell in love, and got married later. Fillmore made the Fugitive Slave Law.

Franklin Pierce #14 "Mr. Normal"

Lived 1804-1869. Pierce was a pretty normal president. He tried and tried to compromise about slavery. Whenever a new state was added to the U.S. the biggest question was if there would be slaverly or not. Pierce didn't really know what to do about all the fighting, so the Civil War kept coming closer.

James Buchanan #15 "The Bad President"

Lived 1791-1868. As the Civil War approached all James did was make it WORSE! James was from the North, but agree in slavery like the people from the south. Then, the country was so divided that in 1860 (next election) none of the candidates won because neither could get enough votes!
